My Autumn Fairy
The spring brings such renewal and beauty. From the first fuzzy nibs on the willow tree to the way the grass turns such a lively shade of green after the first big thunderstorm, the early days of April and May have always been my favorite. My birth season. I think we have a connection to the season we were brought into. I'm inspired and fired up by new beginning, opportunities, projects. The feeling of a clean slate to draw on always energizes me, makes me feel most creative. My January boy is restless, anxiously awaiting the end of hibernation, ready to burst outside and get busy. And then came my Autumn fairy baby.
There's just something about the way the world slows down in September. Of course back to school and all feels busy but if you set that aside and look at the way the animals savor those last weeks of warmth. There's the natural harvesting rush, gathering nuts and preparing for the long cold days ahead. However it seems as if the entire nature world takes a collective sigh, looks around at all they accomplished that summer, and basks in the final golden rays of the day.
If you follow the zodiac, they are said to have wonderful traits. Extroverted, polite, laid back, orderly, humble, and intelligent. In practice, I find her to be all these things and more. She is the fun loving life of the party! Very social, yet reserves her affection for her tight knit crew. She's incredibly empathetic and sensitive, smart, but at times frustrated and takes a hard pass on things that annoy her (hello puzzles, I'm looking at you.) She's very unique and loving and I can't believe I got so lucky.
So plan your baby for September, the best Autumn blessing ever...plus all those winter snuggles? AMAZING. To top it off, September babies are said to have the highest chance of living to 100...My mother wrote this beautiful poem and it is my absolute favorite of all her works...
Cottonwoods are whispering
The balmy breeze deceives
But the truth is in the dancing
And the prancing of the leaves
It's in the gamboling of the scarecrow
And the gypsy will-o-wisps
And the foxfire in the lowlands
The corn shocks dry and crisp
It's in the clouds that are now racing
Descending low and dark
Stripping trees of colored leaves
Their branches shorn and stark
The restless sprites are rising
Amidst the emberred flame
And on this wild unbridled night
Hadley Autumn came

Do you love her soft, breezy, whimsical baby dress? Lush layers of tulle, delicate pink sprays of roses on the bodice, and easy button snap bottom make this one of my favorites by Flofallzique and a definite addition to any little girl's wardrobe. Machine wash, line dry, I love how extra it feels without being fussy. We took tons of photos in this!
